I had a Professor in college. Her nickname was “Easy A Wray.” The problem? She found out the semester I took her. 👎
However, she taught me the two ways to get an A:
1️⃣ Depth of knowledge demonstrating deep expertise
2️⃣ Synthesizing disparate concepts to create new thinking and ideas
MMT: What’s your approach to earning an “A” in business? I’ve always tried to synthesize new ideas. For me, it’s the type of thinking that leads to exponential results.
• I spoke with a CEO in the construction industry. We are trying lots of new ideas as the market shifts. I told him to “get back to a startup mentality.”
MMT: Where are you allowing complacency of “old ways” into your business?
• I’ve spent some time with CEOs in a bit of stress. I’ve said repeatedly, “Stress doesn’t make good decisions.”
MMT: Where is stress impeding your ability to lead? What coping mechanisms are you deploying? Take good care of your mindset.
• In this changing environment, you have to think strategically. It’s about innovation, not optimization. Challenge assumptions and constraints.
MMT: What assumptions or constraints are you accepting that are limiting your growth?
• I got a call from a Vendor I worked with nearly ten years ago. He was buying new shoes and, according to him, I always complimented his shoes. He randomly called because he thought of me. Ten years later.
MMT: It’s true. It’s not what you say. It’s how you make people feel that matters.
Have a great week!
