Our Story

I ran the companies first. That’s the whole point.

ProvenChaos exists because Jerry Macnamara built his career inside the chaos this site describes: as the operator, not the observer. The advice here was earned at full price.

The operator years

Senior leadership at 23. Five companies led across B2B and B2C: manufacturing, internet, construction.

The gurney at twenty-five

Early in that run, during the 100-hour-week years, Jerry spent a Valentine’s Day on a hospital gurney with electrodes on his chest and a blood pressure reading of 195/96. He was twenty-five.

The heroics were working, by every number the business tracked. They just weren’t working for the human carrying them. That day is why “build a great business without sacrificing a great life” isn’t a tagline here. It’s the scar tissue the whole practice is built on.

Soccer Post: $5.9MM to $15MM in 18 months, on to $25MM+ as the second-largest seller of soccer equipment. 35 stores in 13 states. Franchise 500, three times. Along the way, built and sold TotallySoccer.

NFFS: a construction company taken from $7MM to $30MM in three years. Inc. 5000 twice. Best Places to Work. The fastest-growing company in Jacksonville. The lesson Jerry took from it: you can have a compelling company that outperforms. Culture and results aren’t rivals.

Jacksonville Business Journal named him an Ultimate CEO. Since the operator years: 100+ B2B companies advised, from under $1MM to just shy of $1B, and stages around the world.

Why ProvenChaos

Jerry Macnamara with his family
The Macnamara family. The reason the whole-life part isn’t a tagline.

Bringing calm to the chaos of business: that’s been the banner from the start. The work is helping CEOs replace personal dependency with organizational capability, so the company can carry what the founder used to carry alone.

The mission: positively impact five million people through better business. Better companies make better workplaces. Better workplaces send people home better. That’s the multiplier we’re playing for.

What we believe is in the Thesis. How we behave is in the Action Principles. What it produces is in Results.
