I’m reading “Amp it Up.” Highly recommend it. The book has me thinking A LOT about execution. Here’s what I thought about this week talking with CEOs and reflecting on execution.
- Poor execution boils down to one or more of these five factors: Tools, Time, Training, Talent, or Tenacity. While you can address the first three with proper strategies, the fourth calls for brutal self-assessment and the fifth factor presents a significant challenge.
- “Act like you own it.” Great execution comes from that mindset.
- Prioritizing and saying “no” has often proven more profitable for me than trying to seize every opportunity. Discipline and focus guide you to execute the right tasks, enhancing effectiveness.
- Intellectual curiosity must be a lifelong thirst. No matter the topic – prepare for awe. Explore, ask questions and learn. Curiosity creates learning. Learning creates competence. Competence unlocks confidence.
- What you do is not who you are. It’s very useful to decouple you and your work. Your job does not define you. Your actions, values, family and friends define you.
What are you thinking about and learning this week? 🤔
