👑 I Met Ho Chi Minh Once…
It was a wild experience. I was in high school. He was the former President of Vietnam.
Of course, it wasn’t really Ho Chi Minh. He died 5 years before I was born. But that didn’t matter to Patty Kolodi. My teacher was all-in on playing Ho Chi Minh. Military garb and all. She became Ho Chi Minh.
Just like she was a rice farmer.
Or a Reporter at the My Lai massacre.
Outsiders mistook our Vietnamese jungle as a standard classroom. They were wrong.
Patty won National Teacher of the Year. And for great reason. Talk about “owning” the role! School leaders got out of the “crazy lady’s way.” Her theatrics and effectiveness earned her the trust and latitude to do her best work. It was phenomenal being her student. Even the truants would show up early from “smoke break…”
Thirty-five years later, I’m still talking about it…
Here’s the point:
🤔 When you throw yourself into your work without reservation, being Ho Chi Minh is possible.
Made Me Think:
What is possible at your company if your people throw themselves into work like this?
🤯 Get out of their way!
