Whew. It’s been a sprint globetrotting between the Leadership Summit, Anguilla, Denver and St. Augustine. Glad to have my feet firmly planted back at the beach.
• If you’re not using an AI notetaker in your digital meetings, you’re missing a huge opportunity. Reviewing the AI notes has given me more insights than ever. It’s a game-changer. (I use Read.ai)
• I (always) have a great conversation with Lindsay Johnson. Super smart and values-driven.
“Firefighting may make you feel important. But it also makes your people feel disempowered.”
I’d add that if you are always standing on the front lines, it’s impossible to transition from Operator to Owner.
• My lifelong friend, Dave McGonigle turned 50 and celebrated with a trip to Napa. I’ll need notes. 🙂
We discussed “When is it too much?” when it comes to our kids (and employees). It’s an interesting question that deserves deep thought about support and enablement while preserving boundaries and preventing entitlement.
• I was talking with Anthony and Amanda (The A-Team) in California. They’re transforming their second-generation company. The change they’re driving is incredible.
I shared something Zach Mitchell said to me: “When our people are talking, we are winning.” (It’s maybe THE hallmark of great leadership.)
They’re embodying culture change by getting people talking and connecting it to a why of what the future might look like at their company. 🚀
Are your people talking? How about when you’re not there?
• Kim Bach and Amanda Holmes have been discussing implementation vs learning. It’s not the information that matters; it’s the throughput generated from the information.
Have the focus and discipline to make “The thing THE thing.”
Or, as my dad always said, “Stop stepping over dollars to pick up pennies.”
What dollars are you missing?
Love to see a 👍 or a 👎 to see how you’re doing so I can check-in on you. ❤️
