I work with high performers all the time. And, I have huge respect for Jocko Willink – a man who served our country and became a Navy Seal. He’s written an amazing book, “Extreme Ownership,” which I recommend on a regular basis.
I just think he was dead wrong on a recent piece of advice about the discipline to wake up and get up. I think it’s just a little more complicated than simply having discipline. It ignores the genesis of where discipline arises – or the why of why discipline exists.
In this video, I explain.
PS – I get up at 4 am daily. Does that make Jocko lazy because he sleeps in until 4:30 am?
