My Dad always told me, “Don’t assume.”
It makes an “ass”-out-of-“u”-and-“me.” He’s right.
CEOs get in trouble when assumptions go unchallenged.
I was speaking with Vince about assumed competence and skill sets. There is a definite gap between what an experienced leader assumes people know and what level of competence leaders have.
Don’t fall into this leadership gap.
Made Me Think: When was the last time you assumed something and found yourself in trouble or frustrated? What assumptions should you start challenging?
I’ll go first: How to run meetings, how to prioritize your calendar, how to handle conflict, how to drive accountability, how to plan a project…
• I’m beating a drum in 2024 around a personal weakness – and one I see show up in business every damn day.💡
It’s not the things that are said that create the most friction inside relationships. It’s the things that go unsaid and unseen that fester and damage relationships.
Made Me Think: Foxhall gave me a coin from Ryan Holiday. It says, “The obstacle is the way.” Sits right under my monitor. 👀
Great reminder.
In 2024, I will make the invisible more visible. Love for you to join me on this journey of transparency, vulnerability, and upgraded relationships.
• A massive shoutout to Roger Martin for publishing “An Insider’s Guide to Business.” Roger asked me to be a pre-reader for the book. My favorite book of 2024 so far! 😀
I seriously recommend it:

PS – I am also sending this CEO Insights through text. Several people asked me to add their team members to this text. If you have someone who would benefit, please let me know. These insights come directly from 25+ hours of weekly calls with Senior Leaders. I’d be happy to add them. 🙏
