CEO Insights: Why Complacency Is Your Greatest Enemy

“The Dangerous 2” always terrified me.

You are most vulnerable when things are going well. You get lulled into thinking you’re invincible.

Soccer personified this idea. When we scored a goal, the other team would rage back. Before the kickoff, we would remind each other on the field that we were in the “Dangerous 2.”

People with something to prove play the game differently. This must be met with heightened awareness, alertness, and urgency.

The same is true in business—except you cannot always see the competitors who are scheming and planning to steal your business. Once your business starts working, people will notice and want what you built.

You have to live “The Dangerous 2” mindset or risk giving up a critical goal.

What did you learn in the first half of the year?
