Winter always comes.
As we continue to coast on a near-decade of positive economic growth, a spell that has turned many business owners into geniuses, we must always remember: Winter always comes.
No matter what we do there are always going to be downturns and disruptions to the business.
Will you be ready?
Dramatic Changes to Business
Last weekend, my kids wanted to watch the new Disney release. My wife kept asking me if I had booked the tickets yet. Finally, I took my phone out of my pocket, opened the Fandango app and booked the tickets in two minutes. As I avoid driving after having a beer or two – which they now sell at the theater, I also ordered an Uber. We stock up on food for the weekend, so we ordered our groceries on Instacart in the Uber – and they delivered two hours later as we got home from the movie. Oh, and we selected our weekly meals for Green Chef – which arrive prepped and ready on Tuesdays.
Think about this mind-boggling change.
Today, all of this is normal behavior. Unthinkable three to five years ago and now totally commonplace today. Technology, disruptions and market changes have dramatically impacted how I act as a consumer. It has also created significant impacts on businesses as well.
