If you need to know something, you really need to know what game you’re playing.
I’m not talking baseball vs volleyball. I’m talking about your business game.
Do you know what game you’re playing? No, seriously. Do you? It matters.
Are you playing the short game or the long game?
You have to know because they have different objectives. You’ll allocate resources differently.
If you’re trying to sell your business in eighteen months, you’re going to make different investments than if you’re planning to operate the company for decades. Yes?
Are you playing the transactional game or the transformational game?
Same thing. They have different rules. You have to know.
One game is about the journey, embracing change and growing through people. The other game is only focused on optimizing the outcome.
I don’t care what your approach is – it just matters that you know.
At the end of the day, here’s how it works:
- Awareness allows us to create conscious intentions.
- Conscious intentions inform our actions.
- Aligned actions create fulfillment.
- And fulfillment, well, that’s the whole purpose of life.
But, you have to know what game you’re playing.
Take some time this Saturday to stop and think. Make sure you’re living your life on your terms.
Life is way more fun. Promise.
